In a conclusion to the Restored and Restoring series, Gloria Iribagiza, Communications Specialist at B2THEWORLD, shares a reflection on how the finished work of Christ brings hope in the effort to establish transformative education in the places we serve.

As we reflect on the restoration theme of Isaiah 61:1-4, we experience the continual unfolding of God’s heart for transformation. This is not only in our lives but in the places that He has called us to serve children through providing a transformative education. Prophet Isaiah’s magnificent proclamation reverberated through the canals of history and was established and fulfilled by our Lord Jesus in Luke 4:17-19.
Jesus stood in the synagogue, found the place in the volume of the book where it was written of him, and proclaimed: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Comprehending the extent of the finished work of Christ on the cross that restored humanity back to God is incredible. It is worth celebrating the victories that have already been won with the good news of the gospel of God’s Kingdom. It is also a worthy challenge to continue the mandate to this by bringing the fullness of life to the poor, oppressed, blind, and vulnerable in our societies—in this case, every child impacted by war. While some of the present realities of the world we live in today are that of conflict, devastation, loss, and disasters, Christ’s fulfillment of this prophecy in Isaiah 61, lifts our hope and faith in knowing that more good can be done.
These anointed words of Christ beckon us to act while we wait in earnest expectation for the wholeness and restoration of every child impacted by war. Children that are comforted, filled, blessed, rebuilt, and restored through a transformative education in favorable learning environments, have the power to later impact their communities for the better.
