A KICS education establishes and prepares young people to transform their community, their country and the world. For more of this transformation, KICS needs a campus that is equipped to serve this vision. The land has been purchased, the design is taking shape, and now it’s time to fund the new Learning Landscape and Centers of Excellence, which will allow KICS to have an extraordinary national and international impact.
This is Our School, it belongs to all of us, and together we can make this vision a reality.
" When we arrived in 2014 what we found at Kigali International Community School (KICS) was an incredible vision, with really great people, what we also found was a facility that could not contain that vision. No matter how hard we tried, no matter what adjustments we made to live out our vision, we knew that to accomplish this a new campus, a new home was necessary. " ~ Dr. Ben Thomas – KICS Director.
In 2016, at the 10th anniversary of Kigali International Community School, the leadership of KICS was encouraged to dream. They asked the question; What if in another 10 years, KICS had a new home, fully equipped to realize the vision of academic excellence and spiritual maturity that had the capacity to change communities, Rwanda, and the world?
From this dream came the campaign “His Vision, Our Future” which evolved into the “Our School” campaign, a desire for even more of the transformational impact that has been seen in the lives of young people, and to expand the vision of educational possibilities in Rwanda, East Africa and beyond.
This is Our School, it belongs to all of us.
Campus additions. In order to accommodate immediate growth in the student body and to be able to provide computer classes, Phase 1 was executed in 2016. Accomplishments included: Two new classrooms | A computer lab | Two streams of Grade 1 classes | Computer classes for all grades
KICS purchased 8.8 ha of land in 2019 to build its future home, a campus that will be a center of learning for generations to come.
Six additional centers. In addition to the completed KICS campus, plans will be implemented to provide six distinct centers that serve the Kegali community. Learning Support Center | Science Center | Athletic Center | Performing & Visual Arts Center | Global Leadership Center | ICT Center
I believe every kid deserves room to play, to explore, to learn about themselves and when I think about the new KICS campus, I think it’s really going to offer an opportunity for that, because sometimes when we think about schools, we just want to build classrooms. But the way I see the KICS campus, you’re going to have your music classroom, you’re going to have your art classroom, you’re going to have your science lab, a lot of playground, something that builds kids, not just as people who have to memorize science facts, but full humans.
